What is Blue light and why is it harmful?
Blue light, which is emitted from our screens, has the highest energy wavelengths on the visible light spectrum. It's the second most harmful type of light, next to UV light.
Nielsen reports show that the average person stares at a screen for 10 hours and 39 minutes per day.
With every second spent staring at a screen, harmful blue light is emitting towards our eye. Research shows that blue light exposure can negatively impact different parts of our brain and body. They include digital eye strain, disruption of our sleep cycle, macular cellular damage, and more.
In addition, overexposure to blue light can affect our melatonin hormone levels. This makes it harder to fall asleep at night, and may even lead to insomnia.
